This is a more personal blog entry today because this is my first day back at work after having a pacemaker installed. However this blog is not about me, but rather a public thank you to two groups of people who have had a significant impact on my well-being recently.
The first group are my colleagues, friends and mentors at The University of Nottingham, in particular within the School of Biosciences. Even before I was called into the hospital I had whatever support I needed whenever I asked. This support gave me peace of mind knowing that everything at work (especially my students) would be taken care of in my absence. This makes a really big difference to recovery times and I am truly grateful to this fantastic group of people with whom I work. The second group of people I wish to thank are the nurses and junior doctors in the Acute Cardiac Ward at City Hospital, Nottingham. They are truly amazing individuals. They were calm, friendly and highly competent no matter what was going on or who was in the ward and all this despite working 12 hour shifts. I'm glad my care was in their hands. ----These people are real life heroes.---- Thank you!
