The Adventures of Eca

A choose-your-own-adventure story

Welcome to the adventures of Eca, an early career academic. This is the first instalment of her Journey. As all good works of fiction require, here follows the disclaimer:

Disclaimer

This work of fiction is based on a true story and inspired by the annual review process which requires an ability to see into the future despite the uncertain research climate. Although challenging the author understands that thinking ahead can be useful and she has plenty of future plans and ideas, however unpredictable the reality. All the names and grants are fictitious.
This journey also marks just one half of her split personality. The other half of her is the education twin – but since there’s no requirement to write a future plan on education this has been ignored…Besides it requires a lot of talent to add the second set of parallel and diverging education pathways to the already complicated science research pathways.
