New Lectures!
Although new to a full teaching load, Eca has training and experience in the classroom and finds students respond well to her more interactive and modern teaching strategies. To ensure her students get a complete and up-to-date view, in the previous year she had identified lectures that need replacing or gaps not previously covered. This means there are 7 hours of new lectures to make!
Just like when preparing a new grant or review paper the excitement of thinking outside the box and reading new ideas is a task she thoroughly enjoys!

Video clips of water moving or models of how physical properties of plants affect that flow are embedded in the slides, bright pictures of plants from different environments and screenshots of twitter conversations used to demonstrate the variety of modern model plants fly around this creative headspace and find their way onto the slides.
Activities are created to get students thinking - for third years, small group discussions provide thinking space within the lectures for students to integrate the new information. For the large first year class live mobile technology allows her students to anonymously create word clouds around themes and answer quiz questions.
Lecture after lecture, the preparation continues. Each 1 hour taking 10 hours to prepare.
